2011-11-01 VHS GNERAL MEETING MINUTES

1. money from Maker Faire still remaining in the VHS bank account.

• signing authority will have to be adjusted post-makerfaire since all singers need to be present
• 8800 total avaialbe from VMMF - all the money is already allotted.
• 2400 to cover the possibility of paying HST & 300 for accountant fee - it is not known whether there is a need to pay
• questions regarding whether or not taxes will be accountant type are in the works (personal vs event, etc), maybe get a referral from event-ers like Public Dreams

2. liability insurance

• Cooperators insurance firm we've been speaking to to get an insurance quote from.
• Constitution & bylaws (found in old wiki in other stuff), description of nights, and people to re-submit questionnaire
• Code specifies that all events that have alcohol have to have insurance per event. BYOB means they will have to provide their own insurance. If they is ever an issue, suing your pants off are not
• Is the hackspace really insurable? Consensus says no.
• expanding/growing facilities could help move VHS towards a more insurable state.

3. status of dues payments (& other things)

• $1425 comes in assuming people pay on time

• Karl and Donation Box need to know they are honourary members
• Grant was denied from the city for the stairs. Cue crying.
• Utilize the space more - it's available six days a week pretty much.

5. Lock Picking

  • vhs would never charge $50 for one night
